Eastern Nabs Win Over Seminole State Despite Early 6-Run Inning

Eastern Oklahoma State College defeated Seminole State College 19-9 on Thursday, despite allowing six runs in the fifth inning. Brayden Rodden, Marc Lebreux, Archer Brookman, Joseph Craig, and Layne Hartsfield powered the big inning for Seminole State with RBIs.

Eastern got things moving in the first inning, when Cody Muncy homered, scoring three runs.

The Mountaineers put up nine runs in the seventh inning. Jarrett Gable, Reed Shepherd, Ryan Lumpkin, Bailey Dorr, Nick Butler, and Tyler Johnson each had RBIs in the frame.

Jacob Womack took the win for Eastern. He went six innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits and striking out five. Austin Warfel threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Robert Briley took the loss for Seminole State. He lasted one inning, allowing one hit and five runs while striking out two.

Eastern socked four home runs on the day. Muncy had a dinger in the first inning. Tyler Johnson started the fourth inning with a homer while Chris Herb and Kyle Simms had back-to-back long balls later in the fourth.

The Mountaineers racked up 11 hits in the game as Simms, Muncy, Shepherd, and Gable all managed multiple hits. Simms led the team with three hits in four at bats.
