Eastern Claims Lead in Fifth Inning to Defeat North Central Texas 5-3

Eastern snagged a late lead and defeated North Central Texas 5-3 on Friday. The game was tied at three with the Mountaineers batting in the bottom of the fifth when Wyatt Gray drew a walk, scoring one run.

The Mountaineers got things moving in the second inning. Tyler Johnson hit a solo homer.

Koty Frank was the winning pitcher for Eastern. He lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out ten.

Rhett Kouba started the game for North Central Texas. He surrendered four runs on four hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three. David Johnson threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

The Mountaineers launched one home run on the day. Johnson put one out in the second inning.

Mac McCroskey went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

North Central Texas saw the ball well today, racking up four hits in the game. William Sebera IV and Clay Stevens both managed multiple hits for North Central Texas.
