Mountaineers Blow Out Redlands Thanks to Big Fifth Inning

A seven-run fifth inning led Eastern to a 10-2 victory on Tuesday. The Mountaineer offense in the inning was led by Jeb Jenkins, Dawson Walters, Jarett Gage, Mac McCroskey and Tyler Johnson, who each had RBIs.

The Mountaineers fired up the offense in the second inning. Gage singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Eastern scored seven runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Jenkins, Walters and Gage, an error on a ball put in play by McCroskey, and a double by Johnson.

Jacob Savage led things off on the mound for the Mountaineers. He allowed two hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Gavin Sochor started the game for Redlands. He went four and a third innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and striking out two. Josh Harrel threw three and two-thirds innings in relief.

Eastern collected 16 hits. Jenkins, Walters, Jarrett Gable, Johnson, McCroskey and Gage each had multiple hits for the Mountaineers. Jenkins went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead the team in hits.

Skylar Fenton led Redlands with two hits in four at-bats.
