Bio

Chad Foster, a native of Memphis, Tenn., joined the Mountaineer basketball staff in 2023. He brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his role as assistant coach for Eastern. With a dynamic background both on and off the court, he has quickly become an integral part of the coaching staff.

Having excelled in his own basketball journey, Foster played for four years at Cumberland University where he also earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing. His commitment to the sport was not only evident in his skills on the court, but also in his character, earning him the prestigious Champions of Character award for the Mid-South Conference in 2019. This recognition speaks volumes about his sportsmanship, leadership, and the positive impact he brings to the game.

Transitioning seamlessly from player to mentor, Foster embraced the coaching path. He commenced his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Cumberland University for the 2021-2022 basketball season. During this time, his contribution played a pivotal role in the team's outstanding achievement of attaining a 20+ win season - a milestone that had eluded the team for over a decade. Additionally, his strategic insights and guidance were instrumental in propelling the team to a memorable national tournament appearance, demonstrating his knack for elevating the performance of both individuals and the collective team.

With an eye on continuous growth and new challenges, Foster transitioned to Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss., where he served in the roles of Assistant Men's Basketball Coach and Head Coach of the Development Program.

As assistant coach for Eastern, Foster is poised to leverage his multifaceted background to propel the team to new heights of achievement. His unique journey from a disciplined player to a motivated coach is a testament to his dedication to the sport and the impactful role he plays in shaping the athletes of today and tomorrow.
