Eastern never in the game at NEO

The Mountaineers didn't give themselves a chance at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College on Wednesday night as they found themselves down by three goals in the first 20 minutes. Perhaps they came out too fast and got stretched at the back by a dangerous NEO attack. The Mountaineers were able to pull a goal back to make it 3-1 at the break, but the damage was done as NEO cruised to a 5-1 victory.

The Mountaineers dropped to 0-7, 0-3 in the Region II Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- NEO took an early 1-0 lead after only 4 minutes.

- NEO went ahead to stay scoring 2 more goals in the next 10 minutes.

- Chris Thorpe and Chris Fresques combined on a Fresques finish to give Eastern some hope 17 minutes in.

- NEO put the game away scoring 2 goals in the second half.

Head Coach Jon Evan commented, "We weren't disciplined tonight. We tried to play too fast and didn't  play our game. We have to be more patient collectively and make sure we are all on the same page, especially on  the defensive side of the ball. We are not built to pressure teams all around the field for 90 minutes and we need to take better care of the ball when we are in possession so we can dictate the pace of the game. We didn't do either one tonight," Evan said. "NEO were the better team tonight and they were ready for us, hats off to them. We need to regroup and be ready to finish the first half of our schedule at Richland on Friday night."

GAME NOTES
- The Mountaineers could muster only 10 shots placing 5 on frame.

- Sophomore Goalkeeper Jahvanni Grant came on for Marc-Antoine Huzen and kept a clean sheet for the final 20 minutes.

Eastern heads to Dallas for a non-conference game on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m, when they take on national powerhouse Richland College.
