Seven Mountaineers Earn NJCAA All-Academic Honors
A program-record seven Eastern Oklahoma State College men's soccer players were recently recognized for academic excellence, earning NJCAA All-Academic honors for the 2018-2019 academic year.
Alpha Diallo, Tayze Ellington, Christian Fresquez, Dani Huerta, Marc-Antoine Huzen, Edgar Torres and Kenan Williams were all recognized for their efforts in the classroom.
"I applaud these young men for their efforts in the classroom. This is a terrific honor for them and shines a positive light on our program as well," said Coach Jon Evan. "I am very proud of our group this year as a whole. In fact, our entire roster finished with a GPA above 3.0 and we had a number of perfect 4.0 GPA's as well. We ask our team to earn distinction in the classroom, be recognized in the community for their service, and to compete for championships on the field. This year's team most certainly has done that."
To qualify for the NJCAA All-Academic teams, each student athlete must complete two semesters as a full-time student, participate in at least one season of his or her sport and complete a minimum of 24 credit hours in the current academic year. First Team qualifiers must have a GPA of 4.0, Second Team qualifiers must have a GPA of 3.8-3.99 and Third Team qualifiers must have a GPA of 3.6-3.79.
