Rose Runs Over Eastern

The Mountaineers dropped a much needed conference game at home to Rose State.  The Raiders took advantage of a lackluster performance by the Mountaineers and scored early and often.  Rose opened the scoring just 8 minutes in and took a 3-0 advantage into halftime.  It wasn't until the Raiders had capped off their scoring at 5-0 that Eastern was able to get on the board with a late goal in the 87th minute to make the final tally 5-1 in favor of the visitors.

The Mountaineers dropped to 4-7-1, 1-6-1 in Region II play.

PLAY BY PLAY

- Rose State jumped out to an early lead 8 minutes into the game

- Eastern went down 3-0 at the half.

- Rose State made it 5-0 in the 83rd minute.

- Eastern freshmen Tyler Broughton scored his 2nd goal of the year to make the final 5-1.

Coach E commented:

"We have to give credit to Rose State, they came to play and it showed.  Clearly, we didn't play well enough to win and although the score is not indicative of the way we possessed the ball at times, there is a lot more to the game than the attacking side." said Evan. "We struggled again in transition today and they made us pay.  Fortunately for us it only counts as 1 loss in the standings despite the lopsided score.  We will put this one behind us quickly and prepare for our last 2 matches at home.
