Mountaineers Drop Game to Aggies After Late Score

Eastern Oklahoma State College stayed in it until the end, but Murray State College pulled away late in a 14-6 victory on Thursday. The game was tied at five with the Aggies batting in the bottom of the fourth when Jill Dixon singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

The Mountaineers collected ten hits and the Aggies had 16 in the high-scoring affair.

Eastern fired up the offense in the first inning and Kirstie Blackwood singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Aggies tied things up at five. Murray State scored three runs when Payton Griffin homered.

The Aggies pulled away for good with six runs in the fourth inning as Griffin doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The Mountaineers tallied one home run on the day as Katelyn Hoover had a long ball in the sixth inning.

Eastern racked up 10 hits on the day. Summer Perkins and Blackwood each managed multiple hits for the Mountaineers. Blackwood and Perkins each collected two hits to lead Eastern.

The Aggies tallied 16 hits in the game as Mikayla Rutland, Kensea Eppler, Griffin, Taleigh Nail, Taylor Battiest, and Brayden Tisdale all had multiple hits. Rutland led the Aggies with three hits in five at bats.
