Eastern Softball Defeats Connors State College and Wins Season Series 3 Games to 1

Eastern Oklahoma State College took the lead late in the game in an 11-9 victory over Connors State College on Thursday. The game was tied at nine with Eastern batting in the top of the seventh when Summer Perkins homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Perkins led Eastern to victory by driving in four runs. She went 3-for-5 at the plate. Perkins drove in runs on a single in the second and a home run in the seventh.

In the first inning, the Lady Mountaineers got their offense started. Kirstie Blackwood drove in two when she homered.

Eastern notched three runs in the second inning. Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers Softball's big inning was driven by singles by Perkins and Blackwood.

Connors State scored four runs in the fourth inning on a grand slam by Simmons.

The Cowgirls evened things up at nine in the bottom of the sixth inning when an error scored one run.

Kally Henson led things off in the circle for Eastern. She allowed seven hits and seven runs over 3 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking one. Gracee Gill came in to relieve Henson in the fourth inning and logged her first win.

Simmons led things off on the rubber for Connors State College Cowgirls. She allowed nine hits and six runs over three innings. Collins threw four innings in relief.

Eastern socked three home runs on the day. Perkins had a long ball in the seventh inning. Blackwood went for the long ball in the first inning. Kaitlyn Smith hit one out in the sixth inning.

Eastern totaled 17 hits in the game. Madison Durham, Perkins, Blackwood, Ashley Pletcher, Smith and Avery Roberts each racked up multiple hits for Eastern. Blackwood, Perkins and Durham each managed three hits.  The road sweep of Connors State gave Eastern the edge in the season series.

Connors State tallied nine hits in the game.  Aldridge managed multiple hits for Connors State College Cowgirls.
