Eastern Softball Grabs Lead in Fourth Inning to Claim Victory over North Ark in Game 1

Eastern Softball defeated North Ark 14-4 on Friday after taking the lead late in the game.  The game was tied at four with Eastern batting in the top of the fourth when an error scored one.

Nene Meza collected three hits in four at-bats to help lead the team to victory.  Meza singled in the first, doubled in the fourth and doubled in the fifth.

Eastern opened up scoring in the first inning when Karlie McCormick grounded out, scoring two runs. North Ark then evened things up at four in the bottom of the third inning, scoring three runs.

Eastern then tallied six runs in the fifth inning.  Meza, Gracie Woods, Ashley Brown and Cambre Strange all powered the big inning with RBIs.

Jewell Henry was on the rubber for Eastern in game 1. The lefty went five innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out five.

Eastern recorded one home run in the opening game with Ryleigh Clinton putting one out in the first inning.

EOSC collected 16 hits on the day with Meza, Morgen Bellar, Clinton, Brown, Woods and Strange racking up multiple hits.  Meza led the Mountaineers with four hits in four at-bats.  The Mountaineers didn't commit a single error in the field. McCormick had the most chances in the field with five.
