MOUNTAINEER ROUNDUP: Eastern athletics win, make mid-March push

Eastern has been putting a lot of wins on the board.

Athletic teams across the department at Eastern Oklahoma State College earned a multitude of wins during competition last week.

EOSC basketball took a pair of wins at home against Murray State College alongside Sophomore Day festivities.

Olivia Johnson and Kaylynn Whelen led the Lady Mountaineers with 14 points each, followed by Asia Johnson with 13 points, Emilee Proctor with 12 points, Nadiyah Cooper with nine points, Tarellya Baber with eight points, Mackenzie Heeke with seven points, and Seniya Wilson with two points.

Jackson Greene led the Mountaineers with 23 points, followed by DD Coleman with 11 points, Jamel Graves and Jordyn Brown with nine points each, Marque Wilkerson with eight points, Julius Williams with six points, Andre Kanu with four points, Ian Hardwick with three points, and Xavier Lucus with two points.

Lady Mountaineer softball earned a pair of wins over NOC-Tonkawa last week.

Greenlee Wells, Chloe Broussard, and Mackenzie Martin combined for seven of the nine RBIs in the first win as well as home runs for Wells, Alyssa Hart, and Braelyn Blasengam, with Chloe Brown striking out two in the circle.

Wells, Martin, and Alexis Helzer combined for seven of the nine RBIs in the second win, with Hart and Helzer having a home run and Wells knocking two over the fence. Martin also got the win in the circle, striking out nine.

Mountaineer baseball rounded out the week of activities with a win over Connors State College.

Klete Finley, Zeb Henry, John Sekich, and Jace Denton combined for five RBIs in the victory over the Cowboys, while Kamden Thompson and Preston Prock combined their efforts on the mound for five strikeouts.
