MOUNTAINEER ROUNDUP: Wells makes softball history, Lady Mountaineer hoops named Region 2 runners-up

Greenlee Wells has put her name into the history books.

The Eastern Oklahoma State College sophomore highlighted a big week of Mountaineer and Lady Mountaineer athletics in multiple sports last week.

Wells broke Eastern softball's home run record that was previously set by Ashley Jones in 2014, with Wells blasting her 29th moonshot in a 12-4 win over Northern Oklahoma College-Enid.

Wells went 3-3 at the plate in the game, earning five RBIs to lead the Lady Mountaineers. Mackenzie Martin, Keeley Johnson, and Hailey Vela also hit home runs, combining for seven more RBIs. Martin also got the win in the circle, striking out nine batters.

In addition to making history, Wells also earned back-to-back Region 2 Player of the Week honors.

Lady Mountaineer basketball also made waves last week, earning a runner-up finish in the Region 2 Tournament after a hard-fought game against Connors State College.
