Mountaineers Participate in Free Soccer Clinics for Local Youth

The Eastern Oklahoma State College Men's Soccer program, under the direction of Head Coach Jon Evan, has been taking part in free soccer clinics for local youth players on Mondays & Tuesdays this fall at the Mountaineer Soccer Complex.

"This is a project we have been working on since we arrived here 3 years ago," Evan said. "We have high expectations for ourselves as a program and that includes building healthy relationships and doing right in our local community. Through year-round camp and clinic offerings, we have strengthened our ties with the soccer communities in Southeastern Oklahoma including Eufaula, McAlester and Poteau. Our young men also referee in their leagues.  This has just been another opportunity for our program and our student-athletes to give back to the local soccer community. We only hope it pays dividends in terms of interest in our program and that those folks come and support the team on game day."

The Mountaineers finished as an NJCAA Region II semifinalist in 2018 and placed two players on the Region II All-Conference Team including 2018 sophomore captain Edgar Torres. In addition, 7 soccer student-athletes were recognized as NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
