Eastern men’s soccer team wins second-straight Region 2 regular-season title

WILBURTON, Okla. – With a win over the newly-minted Connors State College team on Sunday, the Eastern Oklahoma State College men's soccer team clinched its second-straight NJCAA Region 2 regular-season title.

"I couldn't be more proud of the boys so far this season," said Jake Cottage, head soccer coach of the Mountaineers. "We came into pre-season with a brand new group of players and a new coaching staff and have truly come together as a team from top to bottom. We have improved with every game and we look forward to the rest of the season."

Thus far undefeated at home and with a current record of 10-1 in conference play (11-3 overall), the Mountaineers also secured the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 2 tournament to be held in Enid, Okla., beginning on Oct. 26.

The team has also earned respect on the national level, maintaining a place in the NJCAA DI Poll for much of the season and climbing as high as No. 12.

The Mountaineers will look to continue their successful season against Murray State College on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 3 p.m. in Wilburton. Both the men's and women's soccer teams will honor their sophomores that day with "Sophomore Day" festivities before their respective games.
